We love a bit of Halloween baking with the kids. It has to be the most fun "holiday" to bake for because there's no expectation for neatness. Messy is better and once you put a pair of googly eyes on they're instantly transformed into something fun!

Hannah and I had a fun after school baking session with our girls aged 6-9 but this would be easily doable with toddlers with a bit more supervision than we probably gave!

biscuit baking

We used a simple biscuit recipe:

100g Softened Butter
275g Plain Flour
100g Sugar
1 egg
1 tsp Vanilla Essence

We creamed the sugar and butter together and added the egg and the Vanilla Essence. We gave it a good mix before adding in the flour and stirring that in until we had a roll-able dough.

We split the dough so the girls could each roll out their own and cut out spooky shapes from the dough. we got our cutters from Amazon but if you haven't got any just use what you've got.

We baked the biscuits for 8-10 minutes at 180 degrees and then let cool whilst we mixed up the icing.

We used 150g of icing sugar mixed with a small amount of water which we added slowly to get the right consistency and then add gel colouring. We love the colours the girls made.

halloween baking

Icing can be messy and uneven but the eyes make them look so cool!

If you've still got any energy after all that you can make some pizza like we did to fill them up before they start on the biscuits! We love the 2 ingredient pizza recipe which doesn't need to prove. But go for the real thing if you're prepared.

pizza making

The girls love decorating their pizza with veggies, olives and pineapple.

I loved that I had extras to take home for lunches the next day. You know how good our reusable bags are for taking out your snacks and lunches!
