From Monday 7th September until Sunday 13th it's Zero Waste Week. A fantastic initiative to get everyone thinking about how much waste we produce and what we can do to reduce it.

This years theme is "RE-USE" something that is very close to our hearts at Nom Nom Kids. You can join in by helping do simple things like re-using something that you might normally throw away. Take a look at some of the suggestions below or find them on the Zero Waste Week 2015 website.

  • Reuse shopping bags
  • Reuse foil for zero waste lunches
  • Reuse jars for storage
  • Take clothes to a textile bank
  • Reuse leftovers as ingredients
  • Offer items on Freecycle, Freegle or Streetbank
  • Reuse blank paper for notes
  • Use a refillable bottle

Obviously the more you can do and encourage others to do will help reduce waste going to landfill. Teach your kids about re-using and recycling and help them think about saving waste too so the next generation will do all of these things and more as standard.

Maybe you have a great idea for a household item that you could share or you would like to start collecting things from your neighbours to re-use, recycle or up-cycle. Don't forget that so many baby and household products can by recycled & up-cycled by the clever people at Terracycle....you just need to find a local collection point....or become one!
