1 year ago I launched Nom Nom Kids Reusable Pouches at a local Christmas Family Fair in Cheltenham. I had just a handfull of pouches that I had rushed over from my manufacturer and sold out that day. I started to get a few orders on my website but it was very slow going in those first months and a daunting task to get my pouches noticed.
In those early days I contacted some fantastic parent bloggers who reviewed our pouches and gave their honest thoughts. I was really bowled over by how much they loved them and the reviews kept coming, even from bloggers that had bought the pouches themselves and wanted to tell their followers all about them. We have won 3 awards for our pouches in this 1st year which I am incredibly proud of and also been featured in local magazines and a newspaper. See our Features page.
We are selling our pouches now worldwide with stockists in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain and the USA. One Czech stockist has even made a you tube video about them...
I am very proud to be one of the top ranking reusable food pouches on Amazon.co.uk and often in the top 20 food storage solutions in the baby department. Our pouches have 5 star reviews from genuine happy customers.
Nom Nom Kids is still a 1 mum operation with a little help from friends and family when needed. My children are still only little, Stanley now attends pre-school 3 days a week and Nancy goes to a wonderful little nursery around the corner 2 times a week so I work on those days and evenings. When I started the business Nancy was at home with me full time but I could grab time to work whilst she happily played, explored the house or napped. At 2 she wants much more stimulation (and can get into much more trouble) so we tend to go out to do activities and my days with both children are a hectic rush of soft play, scooting and errands.
Everything to do with Nom Nom Kids is done by me. I am design, development, photography, marketing, finance, sales, operations,quality control, customer service. This suits me just fine for now as I'm learning so much about how my business should be run and who my customers are. I can offer fantastic customer service and solve any issues immediately because I take full responsibility for everything....I want my customers to be happy and I always do everything I can to make sure that they are.
What next for Nom Nom Kids?
Last week I took delivery of our new stock of pouches and I am so happy with them. The design is pretty much the same with a tiny change that you might not even notice but the new features include:
- 5mm longer & wider gusset for even easier filling
- Now holds 130ml of food if filled up to the top of the window
- Extra room to allow for easier closing (or extra filling)
- Stronger zip lock seams to make the pouches last even longer
- Overall quality and consistency is improved
Next year we will be looking to find more retail stockists for our pouches so you can purchase them from your local baby store or maybe one day your local supermarket! Watch this space!
